Is it just me or did the functionality of the text function go completely downhill with the addition of the pop out box? Why was it altered anyway? Seemed very functional before when you could see the cursor waiting for you to type so it could be incorporated into art too.. Now you don't even know when your text is going to run into something on the board.   -posted by briahmc at 11 Sep 2011 04:58

Agreed. The reason the box appears is because we enabled utf text input for the demo board. This is required for non-European text input. If you have your own board you can decide whether or not you want UTF text input available. The reason for the pop-up box is because you need a java TextField in order for the user to enter any characters - it is impossible in java to enter such characters on a canvas (like the whiteboard). -posted by admin at 12 Sep 2011 10:18

I was thinking about demo from a customer/new user point of veiw. It seems like it would be confusing not knowing which anon user you are when there are several on at a time. We could do that, but would need some admins (regular users) to manage it. Also I think it might be better if we had two artists boards - one requiring a password to draw, and one not. What does everyone think? -posted by admin at 20 Feb 2011 17:05

That might be a better idea actually. instead of passwording the current one, add a new passworded board :D Personally though I may stay mostly on demo. I don't come to GB so much to do fancy stuff, more quick sketching and erasing to sketch some more. -posted by Roland at 20 Feb 2011 19:07

Old time user here, there's a feature I wouldn't mind seeing returned to the artist's board; password protection. Trolling was almost completely non-existent when there was a password that could be passed out to older users and people who have proven themselves in the single-user artist board. this could be fun. It would probably best be done on the single user boards so they don't get ruined, but those save to the same gallery right? or do they save to the artist gallery? This can be something users run too on the forums here, so you could just check the forums for the contest and deadline. Also maybe have it so that the person who wins will start the next challenge and doesn't participate, so the winner has to rotate. We have to get more regular users using the forum I think XD but once we do I don't see what would be stopping anyone from starting this. But as it is right now only a few people will notice it. If you want Razzle we could work together on setting this up as well as anyone else interested in doing so. When banning people from the chat windows/button, it is possible to leave a comment with it (very handy). When adding an IP to the banlist, it isnt possible to leave a comment. I would like that in the next update if thats no problem ;)   -posted by BETA at 15 Oct 2010 03:18

I think maybe a "Board Loading..." and "Board Saved" message should come up when appropriate. Suppose someone is being tutored and theres a mathematical problem with pictures or a graph up there. Someone else comes in that thinks the load is someone currently drawing might just start scribbling in what they think is the present state but is possibly writing over something important. Thanks, good idea. We are actually doing this for the Android app (not yet released), as Android has a very useful feature called 'toast' which displays short-lived notifications like this. For java we would need to either display a new top-level window (not ideal) or put a message in the whiteboard window itself (possibly in the 'other users connected' string). -posted by admin at 28 Jul 2010 20:39

Me and Das/Wook where thinking maybe of trying to get a board for only ppl who have registered? Meaning less trolls beause if they do troll on the resistered board u can block the log in? Dont know if this is possiable. Just a though xXx   -posted by Kashi at 17 Jul 2010 01:15

There is the artists board. It actually used to have a password (but you could view without the password), although we took the password off because I think it put people off.
