| Is it just me or did the functionality of the text function go completely downhill with the addition of the pop out box? Why was it altered anyway? Seemed very functional before when you could see the cursor waiting for you to type so it could be incorporated into art too.. Now you don't even know when your text is going to run into something on the board. -posted by briahmc at 11 Sep 2011 04:58 |
| Agreed. The reason the box appears is because we enabled utf text input for the demo board. This is required for non-European text input. If you have your own board you can decide whether or not you want UTF text input available. The reason for the pop-up box is because you need a java TextField in order for the user to enter any characters - it is impossible in java to enter such characters on a canvas (like the whiteboard). -posted by admin at 12 Sep 2011 10:18 |

| I would like to be an admin, please. :3
Let's see... I'm on the board pretty early. Around 6 to be exact, depending how tired I am. I'm here often (the board, not forums) and for a long time actually. I'm really active unless I need to do something (rarely). The whole time being on the GB, I've never gotten in trouble. In case you wanted to know, I'm usually known as 'Kitty'. Very rarely though... | Is there problems with users not obeying the rules? Are there no admins around when your online? I'm just curious, I thought that there were plenty of admins already -posted by Kutless at 12 Aug 2011 13:43 |
| Yes, yes there are. Trolls. Phill comes every once and a while, but he's inactive most of the time. -posted by Kitty at 12 Aug 2011 14:00 |
we have had an unfortunate slew of trolls of late, my guess is school holidays. -posted by Phill at 12 Aug 2011 15:47
| It's always useful having more admins - there are always some times when there are no admins on, so the more the merrier. I'll open up a discussion in the admin area to see what the other admins think. -posted by admin at 12 Aug 2011 18:11 |
| Okay. Thank you. How long will it take? -posted by Kitty at 14 Aug 2011 11:36 |
| It usually takes a week or two. dave will send you an email when the admins are done discussing :) -posted by Kutless at 14 Aug 2011 16:07 |

| I was thinking about demo from a customer/new user point of veiw. It seems like it would be confusing not knowing which anon user you are when there are several on at a time. Would it be possible to have the Anon user name that is being used in the Name box when a user signs on? -posted by Kutless at 31 Mar 2011 07:25 |
| This will be added soon (it's all done...just need to wait for a quiet time to update the server). -posted by admin at 31 Mar 2011 14:48 |
| ok, this change is now live -posted by admin at 5 Apr 2011 10:52 |
| the admin_board.html floats by default. what link are you using? -posted by admin at 13 Apr 2011 14:45 |
| you'll need to set the always_float param to true in your page like we do in the admin_board.html page - then it will float by default. -posted by admin at 13 Apr 2011 15:00 |

i agree with DA, it would be better if you set a pass protection for the artists board, we dont want our drawings to get lost or ruined, thanks.

| We could do that, but would need some admins (regular users) to manage it. Also I think it might be better if we had two artists boards - one requiring a password to draw, and one not. What does everyone think? -posted by admin at 20 Feb 2011 17:05 |
| That might be a better idea actually. instead of passwording the current one, add a new passworded board :D
Personally though I may stay mostly on demo. I don't come to GB so much to do fancy stuff, more quick sketching and erasing to sketch some more. -posted by Roland at 20 Feb 2011 19:07 |
great idea. =) -posted by Bella at 20 Feb 2011 19:17
| Yeah, thats a good idea! As long as there's a place for everyone :) -posted by DA at 20 Feb 2011 19:22 |

| Old time user here, there's a feature I wouldn't mind seeing returned to the artist's board; password protection. Trolling was almost completely non-existent when there was a password that could be passed out to older users and people who have proven themselves in the single-user artist board. Thanks for your consideration! -posted by DA at 17 Feb 2011 21:33 |
its a good idea althuogh the thing is we might lose alot of our regular useres beacause of this, some people dont like sighning up for things or having to go through a long proccess before being able to get onto groupboard, i think its a good idea but consider possible outcomes -posted by master-pie at 23 Jan 2012 22:45

| I think like some boards, We should probably hold competitions?
save our entries in the gallery under competition titles. i think it would kinda be fun but i wouldnt know about prizes. -posted by RazzleDazzle at 2 Dec 2010 12:21 |
| This is a suggestion for a new feature to the Groupboard app Or a competition for people who use the demo board? -posted by PiMP at 9 Dec 2010 01:23 |
| demo board -posted by RazzleDazzle at 9 Dec 2010 09:59 |
| this could be fun. It would probably best be done on the single user boards so they don't get ruined, but those save to the same gallery right? or do they save to the artist gallery?
This can be something users run too on the forums here, so you could just check the forums for the contest and deadline. Also maybe have it so that the person who wins will start the next challenge and doesn't participate, so the winner has to rotate. The winner could be decided by votes from registered users or maybe from participants and you can't vote for yourself XD just some ideas :) -posted by Roland at 10 Feb 2011 09:53 |
| Ooh! that sounds great Roland, i like that idea xD it sounds great should we do one? i dont think its REALLY anything the admins need to do something about since it wont violate rules or something. -posted by RazzleDazzle at 23 Feb 2011 15:36 |
| We have to get more regular users using the forum I think XD but once we do I don't see what would be stopping anyone from starting this. But as it is right now only a few people will notice it. If you want Razzle we could work together on setting this up as well as anyone else interested in doing so. If you're into that I'll start letting people know about the idea and to sign up for an account X) -posted by Roland at 23 Feb 2011 21:07 |
| That does sound good, im sure some will notice when they look into the gallery and see titled contest: (whatever) on it, xD i can try rounding up some people cause it does sound really fun to do. -posted by RazzleDazzle at 28 Feb 2011 12:11 |

| When banning people from the chat windows/button, it is possible to leave a comment with it (very handy). When adding an IP to the banlist, it isnt possible to leave a comment. I would like that in the next update if thats no problem ;) -posted by BETA at 15 Oct 2010 03:18 |
| Actually, you can! Just add the reason after the ip followed by a space when you are adding it, e.g. type in "1.2.3.* scribbling" and hit Add andOK. -posted by admin at 15 Oct 2010 20:27 |

| I think maybe a "Board Loading..." and "Board Saved" message should come up when appropriate. Suppose someone is being tutored and theres a mathematical problem with pictures or a graph up there. Someone else comes in that thinks the load is someone currently drawing might just start scribbling in what they think is the present state but is possibly writing over something important. | Thanks, good idea. We are actually doing this for the Android app (not yet released), as Android has a very useful feature called 'toast' which displays short-lived notifications like this. For java we would need to either display a new top-level window (not ideal) or put a message in the whiteboard window itself (possibly in the 'other users connected' string). -posted by admin at 28 Jul 2010 20:39 |

| Me and Das/Wook where thinking maybe of trying to get a board for only ppl who have registered? Meaning less trolls beause if they do troll on the resistered board u can block the log in? Dont know if this is possiable.
Just a though xXx -posted by Kashi at 17 Jul 2010 01:15 |
| There is the artists board. It actually used to have a password (but you could view without the password), although we took the password off because I think it put people off. The having to register is another idea that we have thought of - maybe for the future. -posted by admin at 17 Jul 2010 11:43 |
| I think having a password is the way to go, Artist is great but it still does have its scribblers now and then. -posted by RazzleDazzle at 18 Jul 2010 12:07 |
| Ah yes, I can see your point. What we had going before was great, but I can see why you would want to keep it open at least for a time. I do look forward to safer drawing in the future! -posted by DA at 17 Feb 2011 21:36 |

| would it be a good idea for it to say who clears on the demo? in the chatroom, if someone keeps clearing we can report them or something, and if someone saves too? -posted by RazzleDazzle at 14 Feb 2010 12:25 |
| admins do already see who clears and saves, so as long as an admin is on they can tell who is clearing -posted by admin at 17 Jul 2010 11:41 |
